Jim and Kerry's final Sunday with us after 35 years of faithful service to Puna Baptist Church and our community. Their beautiful home and nearly everything they owned was taken by the Leilani lava flow on Sunday, May 5th. They will be sorely missed. Now they begin a new chapter in a new home on the Mainland. Thank God we will all be spending eternity together!
Volunteers are needed at the Recovery Information and Assistance Center located at the Pahoa Community Center, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. Please see Marlene Tamashiro if you can help.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
"If the Son therefore shall make you free,
you shall be free indeed."
Thank you for praying for Puna!
"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested
in our body." 2 Corinthians 4:7-10
May 28 update: Two new names added to the Lamb's Book of Life already as a result of the Kilauea eruption -
what a mighty God we serve!
What we are hearing from our brothers & sisters in Christ, even from those whose homes have been destroyed, is continual rejoicing in God our Savior! Amazing, miraculous grace, comfort and provision from Him who is always an ever present help in trouble. PTL!
Many have asked HOW CAN WE HELP?:
#1 Pray, especially for housing for the hundreds of displaced families.
#2 Pray for the Laundry Voucher Ministry to be an effective opportunity to share Jesus with the Puna community.
#3 Cash donations should be made payable to Puna Baptist Church by check & mailed to our P.O.Box 1279, Pahoa, HI 96778.
#4 Especially, Pray! for faith, for courage, for hope that doesn't disappoint, most importantly, for the salvation of many.
#5 Please pray for strength & health for our pastors & their families & for all first responders - for safety, & God's wisdom.
For our 13 PBC families who have been displaced from their homes, we are:
"rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;"
