MAY 19, 2013

In accordance with Romans 6:4, we are buried with Him in the likeness of His death,
and raised with Him in the likeness of His ressurrection to walk in the newness of life.

There was such anticipation in the air all morning.
When we all arrived at the Hot Ponds it was cold and windy,
but no one's excitement was dampened.
The BBQ's were fired up in the pavillion, then we all proceeded down to the pond.
All three men entered the warm water together, with Pastor and Bob and Danny.
The familiar question was asked each one in turn, "Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?"
And with each affirmation, each one was immersed, "buried with Christ" then raised to new life.

According to the Baptist Faith and Message,
"Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water
in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience.
Baptism is the picture of the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour.
Baptism is a picture of the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life,
and the resurrection to walk in a new life in Christ Jesus.
Baptism shows the believer's faith in the final resurrection of the dead.
Baptism is required before church membership. Baptism is also required before taking the Lord's Supper."

It was beautiful to see the three 'brothers', now united in a lasting bond, help each other out of the water.
Then with great joy we all sang Amazing Grace, rejoicing along with the angels in heaven
in the presence of God (Luke 15:10). We returned to the pavillion and enjoyed a wonderful BBQ/picnic feast.
The weather warmed, the wind died down, and the sun even peeked down on us a bit.
It was a beautiful, joyous day in the Lord, a salvation celebration amidst the beauty of His marvelous creation.
Praise God for His greatness and mercy and kindness toward us!
